Ruben Barrera

Ruben Barrera has spent the last 25 years working on Aconcagua and other major mountains across Argentina and South America, with 27 summits of Aconcagua, the highest peak in the Western Hemisphere. Widely known in the local mountain community for his professionalism and charisma, he guides year-round on major peaks such as Ojos del Salado (22,615 ft), Monte Pissis (22,286 ft), Incahuasi (21,722 ft), Tres Cruces (22,122 ft), and the highest mountains in Mendoza, including Mount Plata (19,685 ft) and Vallecitos (18,044 ft).

He is also a passionate trekker, always drawn to exploring new terrain and enjoying routes that combine simplicity with strong scenery.

When not leading expeditions, he works as an outdoor photographer, capturing images across the landscapes he visits throughout Latin America.
